AREAS of CARE

Christian leadership, especially pastoring, is one of the hardest and most demanding jobs out there. It requires gifts and sacrifice that can only be known by others who follow the same calling. Voyage Pastoral Counseling supports and advocates for pastoral leaders in the many and varied situations that they face. Pastoral counseling is a clinically informed approach that is concerned with the whole person - spirit, mind, and body. It isn't problem focused, or aimed only at developing skills, but in helping you to be the best person you can be, in order to lead with authenticity, health, and joy.

FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

There are seasons of ministry life that are rich, full, and invigorating, where favorable winds are blowing and fruit is evident. These are times to be enjoyed and cherished. Pastoral counseling can be a partner in this season, helping to guide your leadership in response to blessing, serving as an experienced and insightful soundboard for ministry and life choices. These times, unfortunately, don't last forever, so it's a good time to plan for the future with a trusted partner who cares for you as a person.

MENTORING

Seminary and other educational programs are good at building knowledge and are vital and necessary. But many graduates say they feel totally on their own when they step into their pastoral vocation. Voyage Pastoral Counseling comes alongside as a mentor, with over four decades of pastoral experience and gifts of care and wisdom. We've mentored dozens of young pastors, many now serving in senior positions. And we'd love to talk with you about mentoring options so that you're not on your own.

IN CRISIS

These are hard times for pastors/leaders. The pandemic stirred up so much conflict that is still playing out. Research revealed 4 in 10 pastors seriously considered leaving ministry altogether. And up to 40% of pastors will face termination or forced resignation at some point in their career. Voyage Pastoral Counseling is particularly positioned to offer support in crisis, and to help you pursue leadership in ways that might avoid a critical situation. In crisis so many things are threatened - vocation, finances, identity, family relationships and friendships, to name a few, and you need an anchor in the storm. We've been there, and have personally faced failure, betrayal, public humiliation, and shame, and we can say it's not the last chapter. There is hope. Let us walk that with you.

FAITH WOUNDS

We expect faith communities to be places of hope and light and healing, and often they are.  But they are made up of people, and sometimes we get hurt by others, even those in leadership.  These are ‘church wounds’, and they are unique.  We’re experienced in this—we’ve been there—and can come alongside you with empathy, compassion and understanding.  Your story is your own, and your way forward is yours to discover.  With affirmation and a non-judgmental posture, we’ll walk with you as you find a healing path, where wounds are transformed, and freedom is found.
